Well, this was a rainy day. That is not unusual for Iceland. So we went to plan B which is plan A with rain gear. We were changing hotels today as well. Along the road Ginny spotted a small waterfall near to the road. There were others pulled over taking photos, so we pulled over and took some photos. Crappy light made for poor photos.
We continued on and stopped at Jokulsarlon, a small area which is filled with icebergs on their way to the sea. It was raining pretty hard, so we put the new Canon D30 waterproof camera to work. I had a problem with the flash because as far as I could figure, there is no way to control the flash separate from the exposure. We got it somewhat squared away and has a passerby snap a photo for us.
We traveled on to Hofn which is a pretty big city (1600 souls) by the standards of this part of Iceland. We stopped at a National Park visitor center and made some inquiries about things to do and see. We aim to have a nice hike up to a glacier tomorrow. It is likely to be raining, but no matter.
Since it was rainy there was no interest to wander around the docks in Hofn. Judging from the vessels there must be a decent fishing fleet here. We looked at several restaurant menus and lobster was on all the menus. There might be a connection.
About mid afternoon we ended up at our hotel for the next two nights. It was early into the room and some catch up time for photos and Ginny's scrapbook. Again, there is no useful internet in the room.
