We had an interesting day in St. Martins on the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick. It was quite the ship building area for about a century. There was an interesting small museum where we had a very nice talk about ship building and operating the ships. I am still amazed that these big ships could be built at all considering what the complexity must have been. We then went on a stroll through town and down to the harbor where the tide was out and all the fishing boats were sitting on the bottom of the harbor. We returned later in the day and saw them all nice afloat. Those tides are quite something.

Todays photo is supposed to be the only place in the world where you can take a photo of two covered bridges. We were told that New Brunswick has 500 of them. Who knows.

We went on down the Fundy trail and had a walk in the woods with a local guide who seemed quite knowledgeable (8th generation St. Martins resident). Then the wheels came off as she launched into a diatribe about global warming, Americans polluting but Barack Obama, the great savior would straighten that out, the health care system where people went to the US for procedures because they weren't allowed in a timely manner in Canada and BLAH BLAH BLAH. She lost almost the whole group for quite a while until she ran out of talking points. We did visit the site of a log shipping operation which was interesting. On the way back we got another dose of tree hugging Baloney. Good heavens, the organizers of this trip should not put up with this crap.

Anyway, we had a nice dinner at the Tidal Watch Inn in St. Martins. It was jolly time. At this point everybody knows everybody and we are having a nice time.

Tomorrow we return to Halifax for a couple days after which Ginny and I head to Newfoundland to start another tour.

Thank heavens for Google translate.
I stand corrected.
Better get in touch with your
comrades in St. Martins.
