In two days time we head out on our trip to Scotland. In preparation for that trip we had to make sure our ATM cards are working properly. Our friends have advised us that Traveler's Checks (the old standby for many years) are hard to use over there. Everybody uses ATM machines. Last year everything worked OK. We have some new cards this year, so we went to the machine and gave the a whirl. Everything worked as planned. There is nothing like a twenty dollar bill to get Ginny's attention. Well, actually, a hundred dollar bill would be better yet. We still have about 80 pounds left over from last year, so there is no urgency to get money when we hit the ground in Glasgow. I have been checking up on the climate in Scotland. It certainly is not the Texas gulf coast. The climatology I have pulled down so far indicates that the high temps this time of year are 55-63F. That is pretty chilly for me. I will have to bring lots of layers.
