Maggie Bairsto.here I worked at Leeds Salon circa1975. Did my test at Brooke St and stayed In St Christpoher Place. I went to work in Leeds as a senior stylist. but moved to the new salon in Croydon London as trainee manager 1977.Where I worked with Gregg, the Manager and Ozzie was art director. I as Assistant Manager also at Manchester salon. I actually worked a full 55 years as a hairdresser before Inretired at the ripe old age of 70. I loved every minute of it and my time very special time at Vidal Sassoon.

Hi I'm John Pamplin and I was in the first team to open the Barber Shop, Brooke St.about 73, Andrew Sheals led the team, I'm wondering if anyone remembers Carl Abraham who was a tinter under Annie Humphries at Sloane St. We were flat mates and it would be great to connect if he's still with us.Also a stylist from Sloane St, David Marshal. Like many of us, I owe any success in my own salons in Bath and Torquay to my amazing training at the school with Jason Peller. Be fabulous to hear from anyone from that time. Merry Christmas

Hi, Found this by accident, wow! What memories. I was known as Jaci, junior at Grosvenor House in 1973 Went to Bond Street to work with Alison then to the Barbershop at Sloane Street and took my test as a Barber. Left , got married, returned to work in Brooke Street. Petite stature, very short hair, I remember a lot of these people some fondly some not so fondly. Christopher used to cut wigs on me.Annie experimented her colouring on my crown. Tony Rizzo used me as a raspberry for the Albert Hall show in his fruit basket. Surely someone must remember 😂 I live in Pettswood where I bumped into Gina who Also lives here she was a tinter at Bond Street with Jo and Alison in the 70’s.

I was at the school around 1970 at the same time as Yoshio and then 5 years in Sloane st with Phillip Rogers , Henry, Dave Marshall, Heinz Schumi, Sean, Grahame, Annie and Christian Robert in the Barber shop...the Grosvenor House for a couple of years with people like Herta abd and Clive Coleman... Then opened up Strands in Duke street W.1 for 12 years wow such incredible memories from those days and I cant believe I remember so many people;'s name....and going through some of these names...living in New York for the past 25 years.... and John you were a great teacher....will write more when I have time....hi to everyone that remembers me!!!!!

I was a hair model at the Mayfair Academy in 1985 to 1987. I don't recall the Hairdresser/Educator name but I always loved my hair. I would also have my makeup done which was the start of me thinking Makeup could be a career. 2019 and I’m a working Makeup Artist in Hollywood. I can honestly say if not for those days sitting in front of a class in London I would not be a Makeup Artist.

I was a hair model at the Mayfair Academy in 1985 to 1987. I don't recall the Hairdresser/Educator name but I always loved my hair. I would also have my makeup done which was the start of me thinking Makeup could be a career. 2019 and I’m a working Makeup Artist in Hollywood. I can honestly say if not for those days sitting in front of a class in London I would not be a Makeup Artist.

Charles I was his model when he was a trainee at Old Bond Street from 1963 when it was still free and Vidal supervised! I still went to him after he graduated to stylist, but very soon after he went to Toronto. He was an excellent stylist. Had a gap between his front teeth but never knew his surname. I sent so many Japanese students to Vidal Sassoon Academy at 17 Queen Street in Mayfair London since 1973. You given a superb sense of Vidal Sassoon Cutting Way's education for my thousands student who had a great appreciation for their life works. Even now, I still remember your young time. you taught my students in decency on tutorials at Vidal Sassoon Academy. Many people has thankful for you those who had a great opportunity to have your tutorials there. Also, I would like to thank for Kyoko Speechley who was one of my hired interpreter in London for my students and I still remember that I worked with her for many years as I brought my group of students. She visited to my office in Tokyo with her 2 daughters when she visited Japan her home country. I haven't she her so many years, for a long time. After I qualified I worked downstairs in the Barber Shop. Loved it. Really good to see so many familiar faces in the photos, and such beautiful haircuts. It was a fantastic place to train. We learnt from the best.

I remember working with you at the Sassoon Academy at Queen Street, May Fair when I first started to work as an interpreter for Japanese hairdressers.Since then I worked at the most hairdressing school in London but mainly at Sassoon. In 1979 I met Roger Thompson when I visited Japan with my 2 daughters. It was in Osaka that this hairdresser invited us to his home and then asked if I could interpret for a seminar. It was Roger Thompson teaching them. He was very strict and made a student cry.Well that was an experience I will always remember. When I worked with you it was fun as you use to confuse me by shouting "Mizu!" which means water in Japanese. And I translated shouting "Water!". You may not remember but I do because I used to be so nervous. But this confusion helped me to ease.

its been great to see all these photos of people i worked with in 1973 i as 16, a mere junior working with the greats. im still hairdressing to this day, 54 now. I later worked for trevor sorbie. but so remember ulrich, henry, haich, and so many others those were the days, when i got the job i was made up. my first day at bond st what a rude awakening i got to know what hard work was, it nearly killed me. i never forget handing in my notice to philip rodgers 2 years later, but remained a hairdresser for life. love to all x sassooneys.

This site brings back incredible memories for me. I was first introduced to the Sassoon salon in New Bond St in 1967. I had just graduated from college in NY and was travelling for 10 weeks throughout Europe for the first time. This website brings back that whole era--the 60's. I loved and miss it. It was also the time of Mary Quant, Carnaby Street, and The Beatles! Sargeant Pepper had just been released, and Procol Harem's "A Lighter Shade of Pale." The Sassoon Method changed my life forever. No teasing, no hairdryers. My hair just fell into place naturally. I have straight, thick hair and tried permanents in the 50s. I never accepted who I was. The Sassoon salon gave me a graduated bob that I took with me throughout Europe, hitchhiking, and staying at youth hostels. When I returned to the States, I was a changed woman. I headed straight to 67th and Madison, where I met Vincent Nardi, then a young junior trainee. I was his "model" when the trainees gave free haircuts (Wed nights?). Nardi rose through the ranks quickly. I followed him for a time to his NY salon. In the 70's, I made my way to Roger Thompson's salon on 155 E. 55th St, an apartment really. He was very unpretentious and incredibly perfectionistic. Vincent Nardi and Roger Thompson are (were) two of the greatest hair stylists. I was indeed very sad to hear of the passing of Roger Thompson. Today, I go to a Sassoon-trained hairstylist in Westchester County, NY. He was trained at the NY salon in the 1970s. As I read this website, I truly miss my youth. I miss walking out of the Madison Ave. salon feeling gorgeous, and people asking me: "Who cut your hair?" And hearing that old slogan: "If you don't look good, we don't look good."

Dear Vidal,I think that some of the history is incorrect. The school was opened in 1967/8 by Robert Edele, jayson and Seymour Myers. Seymour only served a short time there as he left in 1968 to live in Manchester and get married. However, he and jayson were the first two people to open the school, with Jayson as Principal and Seymour as Head Teacher. My name is edward beale I'm from Australia, I first became aware of VS in the early 1960's along with my partner Bob Leopold in a salon in Melbourne, we were the first to emulate Sassoon in Australia. I would send all my clients travelling overseas to the Bond Street Salon,and Vidal would sent back complements via the returning clients.I first attended the VS School in 1973-4 and completed my first cutting course. Tom Yeardye the UK MD at the time arranged for me to meet Vidal in LA, in the Rodeo Drive salon I was so nervous, it was meeting God,he was so passionate and friendly,he also asked me to put his VS Salon haircare range together for release in Australia, which I did on my return to Melbourne. I also send dozens of staff to train in London and LA to train, we soon became known as the VS of Australia. In 1985 and 86 we bought a team of VS staff to Melbourne and replicated the Sassoon Academy Down-under the result was some 2000 Aussie hairdressers completing a Sassoon cutting course. hi everybody my name is mario and i worked in vidal sassoon from 1972 to 1979,i did my aprentaship in the new bond street salon and after as a stylist as well, then shortly after was named manager for the south molten street branch ,those who were working in bond steet are as follows (as best as i can remember, sorry if i leave anybody out )....angelo,aldo,ian,norman,the rizzo bro,derek,christofer,philip...ext...and two good aprentaship friends martin and victor , if anybody remembers me please let me know..regards mario..p.s.looking forward to hearing from you .

i'm really intrigued by all these pics, i think its amazing you managed to get then all to gether. no pics of clive colman though??? he worked for vidal from junior age and opened vidals german salons at 19yo, bit odd theres no mention? fantastic pics, love looking

It's very fun to see the beginning of a revolution. I worked in the Chicago salon for many years back in the mid 70's to the early 80's. It was the experience of a lifetime. Just wondering if there are any pictures of the salons in the U.S. A gallery of those would be wonderful.

MICHAEL LAOUTAS I'm very surprised to find myself in this homepage, bringing back lots of old memories. I startet in 1969 with John Santilli, Jason Peller and Aldo at the school. Worked also in Munich for 2 years, before opening "The English Haircutters" in Munich (1970-1980). Moved on to Innsbruck-Austria, I opened "House of Hair".
