The controversy was over the
technique,not the cut. This was the first raw Punk done at Sassoon's and
Flint used a Flick Knife and the product was Larger beer. Christopher
had produced 3 years earlier the Brush,but at a time when David Bowie
and Rod Stewart were wearing their hair spiky and up.
The cut Helen3 was the Flick Knife grown out
with a weave perm attached. This is 1976-1977 and Sassoon's were now to
follow the street. Many in the Company found this unacceptable; the
Flick Knife though rejected by
Sassoon's was used by Italian Vogue for an article about Punk by Manolo
Blahnik.
