English aviation pioneer Claude Grahame-White (1879 - 1959) flying his Farman III biplane in 1910.
He opened a flying school at Hendon in 1911 and also started an aircraft production company. Was the first person to make a night flight in 1910 and went on to be the first person to fly a night patrol against an expected German air raid on the 5 Sept 1914.
