The photo was taken by Scottish photographer George Washington Wilson a pioneer of high speed photography which enables this shot to be taken.
HMS Cambridge was commissioned in 1815 and saw service in South America and the Mediterranean before being relegated to a gunnery training ship in 1856, she was scrapped in 1869.
