Terrorist

10 months ago we came up with a great idea, and here it was: We need another dog.

Looking back, I am not sure what prompted this decision to be made or what the exact thought process was. What I am sure about is that we were grossly under-prepared for what was about to happen to us.

After looking at breeds, we decided on a Welsh Terrier. Now, I know that terriers are bundles of hyperactive energy but I have been a K-9 handler for 14 years. I think I know a few things about training dogs. Murphy has brought me to my knees.

This is Murphy. He just turned 1. When I drove to Kentucky to get him from the breeder, she asked me if I was sure I knew what I was getting into with the terrier breed. She ended our visit by telling me that I am about to find out why they call them “Welsh Terrorists”

Well, let me tell you a few fun facts about Murphy.
He doesn’t bark, he screams. Loudly.
He likes to eat his food.
And crayons
And Polly Pocket Dolls.
And pencils.
And marbles.
And anything else not mentioned.
He likes to rip holes in things. Anything.
He is an escape artist and as soon as he is out he is sprinting.
If he wasn’t so cute, you’d be reading his obituary.

I will say this, he is a fantastic family dog. He loves the girls and Sinta. Sinta tolerates him too.....most days. I am hoping that Murphy can hang around for a while but man, is it tough.

I should have got a Lab.

How can you not LOVE that!

I'm sure he needs a larger container for the brandy Jim, that little box doesn't hold enough! Great capture of what I'm sure could be a very hard task!

Some breeds mature later than others - he's still a pup and puppies are meant to try our patience :D Great story and fantastic photo Jim! BV

Awesome image - how could you possibly get mad at that adorable looking pup?

Hm.. I have a lab - in one year, he destroyed two beepers and made an attempt at my Iphone. At 4am, he starts "speaking" that turns into a loud shriek if I am not up by 4:15 am. But, I could not imagine not having him!

Lab are great if you ask me, but they dont look as good. Love the dof and the falling snow.

Sorry, man, but if you were trying to get any sympathy for the terrors inflicted by this dog, this adorable portrait is entirely misguided. :-) Seriously, it's a fantastic shot. I love the snow on his face.
