Traveling on Lake Powell through the Glen Canyon National Recreational Area to Rainbow Bridge National Monument is approximately a seven hour round trip. That sounds like a long time to be on a boat but considering the scenery time flew by as there was a stunning view around each bend.

The tour left Wahweap Marina at 7:30 a.m. so the rising sun was bathing the massive formations and buttes for the entire trip to the monument. We weaved our way around Antelope Island, past the Sand Hills and through the largest part of the lake at Padre Bay. Throughout the entire trip we were looking into flooded canyons on each side of the boat until we made it to Bridge Canyon where we made our way to the monument (Rainbow Bridge NM: https://pbase.com/jfp_photo/2018_ut_rainbow_br_nm ). The return trip, along the same path, was just as interesting as it gave us a new perspective of the same formations and combined with the different lighting made everything look completely new to all aboard.
