Denali National Park – Alaska

Denali National Park, the first Alaskan National Park, is also the most popular of the state’s eight parks. Denali, the Athabascan name meaning “the high one”, has as its centerpiece the highest mountain in the western hemisphere, Mount McKinley. At 20,320 feet the massive mountain stands high above the Alaska Range which slices through the park.

While visiting Denali National Park I took the guided bus tour along the Park Road to Kantishna and later a flight around the mountain complete with a landing on the Ruth Glacier Amphitheater.
