My mother and I attended four walks led by knowledgeable naturalists during the Huron Fringe Birding Festival. As the festival was held quite late in the month, however, it seemed that most of the migratory birds had already departed for their breeding grounds further north, resulting in only the regular breeding birds being seen, many of which also breed in Ottawa. One notable exception was the arrival of five Ruddy Turnstones on the beach; this was one of the highlights of the trip.
Most of the photos that I took were of wildflowers, as the weather and the birds were not cooperative. In fact, I don't think I've ever taken so few pictures of birds as I did on this trip.
