On Thursday, May 26, 2011, my mother and I drove from Cambridge to Port Elgin, a small town situated on the shore of Lake Huron at the base of the Bruce Peninsula. We attended the first weekend Huron Fringe Birding Festival, a wonderful birding event which takes place mostly in and around MacGregor Point Provincial Park, and explored a few places on our own. Although it seemed most of the migratory species had already departed for their breeding grounds further north, we observed about 105 species, including three new ones for my life list. I also discovered one new butterfly species and several wildflowers, many of which are displayed in these galleries.
