This is a side view of one of the raptor enclosures at the Raptor Center at the Mountsberg Conservation Area. There are many birds of prey at the Raptor Center, permanent residents which can no longer survive in the wild due to various injuries. We saw kestrels, a Red-tailed Hawk, a couple of Rough-legged Hawks, a Snowy Owl, Northern Saw-whet Owl, Barred Owl, Barn Owl, Turkey Vulture and a pair of adult Bald Eagles. It was fantastic to see all of these birds close up, though some of the injuries - such as the Rough-legged Hawk with the damaged wing or the Barn Owl with only one eye - were heart-rending.
