My fiancé and I returned to Costa Rica in April 2023 to celebrate my finishing cancer treatment six months earlier. I was feeling fully like myself again and ready to do some long hikes! We stayed at an ecotourist lodge located next to Rincón de la Vieja National Park for our first night, then a coastal resort in Guanacaste for the remaining seven nights. Once again I hired a bird guide for two outings, resulting in a lot of life birds (and butterflies and dragonflies!). I also got some photos of species that I missed on our previous trip which was a thrill! It was really good to go back...Costa Rica is my favourite of the three tropical countries I've visited.
