The beach was a good place to find crabs, especially first thing in the morning when the tide was going out. This trip I found two species: the Ecuadorian Hermit Crabs (Coenobita compressus) that carry a variety of different shells on their back, and the Painted Ghost Crabs (Ocypode gaudichaudii) that dug tunnels in the sand and left bits of debris on the sand in amazing patterns.
