I was walking up the stairs to the 3rd storey of the Jiaxiu Tower, when I spotted this antique furniture set on the second storey. Chairs tied all round the table so that visitors would not sit on them, the morning light sifting through and casting shadows of the wooden lattice windows on the floor. I wondered what scholars had sat on the chairs in the past, composing calligraphy or discussing contemporary affairs with each other?
