Originally built in 1598 during the Ming Dynasty and dedicated to scholars studying for their imperial examinations, Jiaxiu Tower is a landmark of Guiyang city. It is a wooden, 3-storeyed tower 20 metres high, built on an island in the middle of Nanming River and connected to both banks of it by the Fuyu Bridge (‘Floating Jade Bridge’). Today, the tower houses the authentic works and paintings of many ancient calligraphers.
