Our day started at 7:00am with coffee and Bailey's at a little ocean side cafe off Hwy 1. We arrived at Qualcomm Stadium 4hrs before kickoff only to find the parking lot half full. We started the day off right pairing cold Tecates with hot breakfast burritos. The menu for the day would also include Salmon Teriyaki and Sausage subs. We’ve come a long way since the day we showed up at Penn State with 30 beers and a bag of chips! The tailgate party was as good as any I have attended … even the San Diego Cheerleaders stopped by!

Once again we had incredible seats … only 12 rows from the field. The Chargers were on fire to start the game scoring a TD on their first 2 possessions. The Rams shook off their bye week rust and scored a TD before the end of the half. The half time score was SD 14 – STL 7.

The Rams were threatening to tie the game half way through the 3rd quarter when Stephen Davis (Rams) fumbled the ball right in front of us. Marlon McCree (Chargers) recovered the fumble and returned it 79 yards for the touchdown. The game was never really close after that. The combination of Rivers, Tomlinson and Gates was just more than the Rams defense could handle on this day. The final score San Diego Chargers 38 St. Louis Rams 24.


Highlights of the Game:

· LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for a season-high 183 yards and scored three touchdowns
· Tomlinson surpassed 8,000 yards rushing for his six-year career, and ties Emmitt Smith, as the second-fastest players to score 90 touchdowns, in 86 games.
· With the Chargers nursing a 14-7 lead early in the 3rd, Chargers safety Marlon McCree came up big for the defense when he returned a fumble 79 yards for a touchdown.
· Issac Bruce had five catches for 105 yards, to push his career total to 12,771 yards. He passed Art Monk (12,721) and into 10th place on the all-time list.
· Jeff Richer tormenting Rams punter Matt Turk with an onslaught of profanity, obscenities and vulgarities. The obviously rattled punter shanked 2 punts early in the first half. The Rams responded by moving the punting net to the far side of the field.
