Alice and I took an amazing hike through the varied landscapes of Volcano National Park on the Big Island. The power of lava flows continuously change the landscape, much faster than what you would expect from “geologic time”. For mile after mile, the lava had blanked the landscape and sealed it with what seemed to be an impenetrable shell. Then you look again and spot life, finding a way to the surface again. Perseverance…

Love the bright bit of colorful life against the deep gray's of the lava.. brings in some neat textures too. Great composition!
