We arrived on the Big Island and made our way to Volcano National Park. There is a beautiful drive along Chain of Craters Road that leads to the ocean. We ventured down this passage to find the ocean, the same way that the lava flows do. There were only a few distant trickles of lava seen on the hillside but we did find the incredible “footprints” that Goddess Pele had left to bridge our understanding of how this great island was formed.
