Almost 11 hours, non-stop. That's a long time to sit still. Alice and I made it to Honolulu a few hours ago. The flight was ok. We took a nice 767 with those cool personal entertainment systems for each seat. In the hospital, they say not to stare at the cardiac monitors. They'll drive you crazy because one second things look alarming, another second the vitals are fine. They always say "treat the patient, not the monitor." Well, these monitors can give you second by second updates on your current location, time at your location, time at destination, time at origin, airspeed (metric and standard), temperature outside of cabin, etc. Now, why would I want to know that it is -40 celcius outside of the cabin? I was hoping that that would remain useless information. Anyway, I find myself staring at the monitor and get bent out of shape when the estimated time of arrival increases by one minute and I curse the pilot for obviously veering off course causing that one minute ETA increase. It's like seeing the clock turn backwards.
Now, if I can only turn off this laptop now!
