We got married in October, 1972 in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the start of a 4 island tour. While on the big island, we were able to walk 1/4 mile from a parking area to see a lake of active lava. We returned in 1992 with our kids, celebrating 20th anniversary. At that time it was much farther to see the active lava so we all took a helocopter tour. Then, in March 2012, we went back for our 40th. Again the best viewing was via helocopter, but also after dark at top of Kilauea Volcano. In 2016 we went for lava flowing into the ocean, and then in 2018 we went to go to Haleakala, and then again for lava flowing into the sea.
