This sequence was shot in a forest called Jęgersborg Hegn north of Copenhagen, Denmark. My wife and son were sleeping in the grass and I was wandering around taking pictures of the forest, when I heard a lot of noise in the dry leaves just 10 meters from where my wife and son were sleeping. I soon realized what was going on and I was very determined to try my luck as wildlife photographer :-) Luckily, even though the snake was well aware of my presence just a few feet away, it was much too occupied with the frog!
Jannik my opinion is that you did a great job, actually better than some of us that shoot wildlife! But also don't let that comment lead you to shoot other snakes up-close with that camera! lol Keep your distance. Congratulations, GMV!
You captured some excellent detail in this series. We have the hognosed snake that hunts frogs and toads. It is a rear-fanged snake that has to chew on the prey in order to subdue it with venom. I am guessing that this snake had some kind of venom to subdue the frog. Well done. Voted.
