Little Aleck, destined to become Vice-President of The Confederacy, was the personal attorney of Thomas Swain. It took him over 10 years to get his estate settled. He had to scratch his head over that one. Thomas Swain and Gen. John Coffee built the Coffee Road from Jacksonville, Ga. to Tallahassee, Fl. in 1822. Swain was one of Jacksonville's earliest settlers. The road to Tallahassee started at his river landing and ferry.
