Thrills, Spills and Chills

OK, I have been playing with Teddy's and Ben's Scalextrics again. It's embarrassing when you are beaten soundly
by someone a week short of their eighth birthday. I am a also bit embarrassed about how many shots it took me to get
this photo right (let's just say it was in the low three figures). I am still not happy with it. Bouncing the flash
would not freeze the car in the air, even at 1/500th, so I had to aim directly at the car, which caused a bit of glare.

I guess I will have to play with the Scalextrics some more in order perfect this shot!

I remember a stunt car event that was advertised on television when I was about Ted's age. The ad promised
"thrill, spills and chills". Seeing this car go over the jump somehow took me back 40 some-odd years.

For another look at the Scalextrics, click here.

Yeah keep playing :) try droping that shutter speed, do it with the camera stationary, and also tracking the car, I took some of a cheap Mini set I bought at the gadget shop a while back it took me ages and loads of shots to get the shot I likedhttp://www.pbase.com/slimboyfat/image/38781350 have fun :)

I think it's a great capture, but if you're not happy with it I guess you'll be forced back to the Scalextrics, for more work. :-)

Dont feel bad, kids will always be better in these types of activities.

Wonderful shot. It appears as if the car's front wheels are in the air. Did you shoot that while you were driving? That might get dangerous you know. You might run over a spider that crawls around on the floor.

Neal, it could be worse... the 8 year old could want to have a go at with the camera....Think of the embarassement then.....
I have a 'few' (lol!) outtakes of my kitchen fawcet. Enough for a years worth of Kholer ads.

This is a great shot Jim, well worth 300 tries, but you'd better hone your racing skills before you fool around with this photography stuff. Your eight-year-old is going to want to start racing for money.

I love this shot Jim - and I certainly know the feeling of taking many shots. .....You need to get him a Ferrari for that track.

Does it still smell like it used to? Cool shot - I can't remember any jumps like that, but then I was never allowed a look-in...

Any excuse to play with the racing set!
