Goodbye Kodachrome Hello 2011

In 2010 we all saw lot's of changes....Kodak announced Kodachrome would no longer be produced.
The last roll would be processed at the end of December 2010, with the last active machine shut down.
My late Father along with his old camera collection also collected old rolls of NEW film.
I have keep this up over the years adding to it every so often.
Here my last used in 2007 Nikon F5 is surrounded by all the old unused Kodachrome I still have.
The oldest roll dates back to Process Before APR. 1962 which makes it older than that, and the newest roll
Dates back to Process Before SEPT. 87. Goodbye Kodachrome.......Hello 2011
Image first processed to look like Kodachrome Professional Film 64 Daylight.
Then updated with Topaz and Nik Color Efex Pro for the new look.

Very cool, through you and your Fathers efforts... We will never say "(sigh) There is no Kodachrome left anymore." A ~V~ for your Dad and you for having the foresight to hang on to tangible history.

It has already been reference - Paul Simon's 'Kodachrome - but this image sure paints that tune perfectly. BZ-V!

Wow, that's a bunch of film! Too bad they aren't processing anymore. I know that some folks still use it or did. I think Inga could probably help with the processing. I like how you set this up!

Now if you had processed all those rolls they might have stayed in business - just kidding! Very neat image Mike.

I heard about this yesterday; definitely a moment when photography burnt its bridges! Ironically, I still have an unprocessed roll of Kodachrome; I guess it will forever remain unprocessed now.

So, are you going to use this film? Or just hang on to it?

WOW Mike, you could have keep Kodachrome going for another two years! :-)
I agree with Matt, Earl, and Walter, couldn't have said it better!

The end of an era for sure Mike. Cool collection you have. I had forgotten about the old metal screw on canisters.

The (film) king is dead. Long live the (digital) king....until something even better comes along.
