Will Katrina Ever End?

New Orleans

My dear friend, Lindy Boggs, is leaving New Orleans, her home for the past 72 years.
She is the wife of the late Hale Boggs, who was a member of Congress for many years. After his disappearance in a plane in Alaska in 1972 the people of New Orleans elected Lindy to serve. From 1972 until 1990 she served with dignity and distinction, retiring only to take care of her daughter who was dying of cancer. Her daughter was Mayor of Princeton, New Jersey at the time.
A few years later,in her late 70's, President Bill Clinton asked Mrs. Boggs to be Ambassador to the Holy See in Rome where she again served for eight years with dignity and distinction.
During Katrina her historical house, built in 1782 on Bourbon Street suffered severe roof damage and Mrs. Boggs has been living away from her home since then in a hotel on Chartres Street. She is moving to Washington, D. C., a city she loves but not half as much as her beloved New Orleans.
At the age of 91 she will again take on another adventure. A well loved figure in New Orleans, she will be greatly missed. Another Katrina tragedy.
Below is a photo I took on her 90th birthday.

Now this is a woman who adapts to change that is quite admirable. Katrina may have been no Lady, but this Lady sure knows how to answer the winds of change. Vote.

I know you are sad about her move and will miss here. This is a lovely photo and the reflection adds so much. She is to be admired for so many reasons. What a lady.

A super lady. And a loss to New Orleans.

What a great Lady she is and yes, she will be missed in New Orleans. We need more like her and then maybe more would not move away. Best wishes and God speed to you Lindy.
