4/27/07 - Clouds of Dogwoods

Go with the flow - dogwoods are in bloom which explains why this is the 6th PAD in a row featuring dogwoods.
This PAD is a variation on one of my favorite shoot-throughs that was posted 2 days ago - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/77775354 - and provides a very different effect than the earlier one.
This image is a reminder to me that the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence. I've always believed that one doesn't have to travel far to get a good picture. Why would you expect to go to an exotic locale and except by pure luck find the right spot/light/etc. to make a winning image (other than the one that 1000's had made before you and that you could have gotten just by buying a postcard). So what's the point, Ed? This dogwood is in my front yard (literally) and I've spent the past week driving probably 100 miles looking for photo-ops. (Of course, I can't find 3,000,000 trillium in my yard - they're 37 miles west of here - but I know exactly where and when which is knowledge I'll never have about Bora Bora so why not stay at home. Put another way, if you can't find wonderful ops within 25-50 miles of home, why do you think you'll find them half way around the world?)
........sound of soapbox being dragged away (Oh, by the way, I won't be posting next week - I'll be in the Great Smokies searching for greener grass - grin.)
