Great Smokies National Park (in the "wild"; not a zoo captive)
I'm not a wildlife photographer except when the opportunity falls into my lap. In this case, this cub was about 50 feet up in a tree (while its mother & two siblings were were on the ground waiting - & I was smart enough not to get between mom and the cub). As I watched it go from limb to limb as easily as a squirrel I wondered if it was going to drop into my lap. It eventually made its way back to the ground and paused en route to give me a photo op (mom gave it a smack).
Fortunately I had a long lens on my 2nd body - and enough sense to immediately switch to spot metering. Got several decent shots - most of which looked much like this one. Cute little critter. No wonder they're the "poster child" of the Great Smokies.
