4/16/07 - Dutchman's Breeches

Found along the banks of Bull Run tucked in amidst the fields of bluebells currently in bloom there. While I was down on the ground peering through the viewfinder looking for interesting bluebell shoot-throughs this pretty little plant appeared. Shot through some green leafy stuff - thus the greenish haze appearance.
Just learned something new (old dog, new trick?). This plant and bleeding hearts - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/60031641 & http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/61226514 - are members of the same family, genus Dicentra. For a more conventional view (non-shoot-through) of Breeches - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/77264384
