After parking my car at the trailhead parking lot for the Amasa Back Trail I walked up the gravel
road half a mile (0.8km) to reach the start of the trail (pictured). There is no room here for a
parking lot. Here one turns right and descends a set of rock ledges or steps that lead quickly
to Kane Creek. The trail fords the shallow creek and gently ascends the landscape in shadow
in the background, eventually reaching the top of the plateau or mesa.
