The volunteers for Peak Potential's adaptive rock climbing program have to wear many hats. They all have day jobs to pay the bills. But, after work, they rush over to the climbing gym to teach kids with special needs how to rock climb. We try to schedule the sessions as early as possible since most of our participants are of grammar school age. That means for most volunteers, it is a mad sprint from work to get to the gym on time for the session. Dinner doesn't really fit in this plan.
The climbing program is offered free of charge to the families. No payment is ever expected but a thank you is always nice. Tonight, we received one of the nicest forms of "thank you" from one family...food! The pizza was a lovely gift which fed our hungry bellies as well as our souls.
