***I can see a bit of Kal in this -- this street vendor could well be a bored civilian wishing he were a soldier again, living in both the present and past at the same time. He seems to be holding a cell phone, waiting for a call that will never come. The decorative screen to the left stands in stark contrast to the plates with the soldiers on them. The soldiers seem so out of place here. I wish we could see a bit more of the hidden hand of the man -- the two hands are the most expressive part of the image.
Yes..hiding behind history when being consumed by the modern mobile phone. Ironically, he looks asleep...but in China...this is communication ;-)) Love it Jen. K
