Looking east-northeast at the upper evaporation ponds near Potash. Arching of the layers of rock is caused by the pressure of a deposit of salt pushing upward. Beyond the tilted strata is a bizarre landscape of sandstone humps, fins, and valleys called "Behind the Rocks." Behind that area, in a valley, is Moab. In the distance is the base of the La Sal Mountains.
