The signs being held by the high school volunteers outside Children's Specialized Hospital read "WET Car Wash". That was no joke. A bunch of volunteers and kids spent the day in the rain washing cars to raise money for "Friday Night Fever", an activities group for teenagers with disabilities. Sheryl is one of the physical therapists who donates so much of her time and energy to make possible the dozens of Friday Night Fever activities available each year.
I had a horrible time on-call in the hospital last night (and this morning). There were many moments when I questioned my career choice (which doesn't happen very often at all these days). I was physically and emotionally drained when I walked out of the building. But, it took only a few moments around these wonderful hose and sponge-wielding individuals to lift my spirits. And, I finally have a clean car.
