Setting routes at a climbing gym is no east feat. First, the job is usually being undertaken "off the deck" and I don't think the routesetters actually get hazard pay. In many situations, they don't get paid at all.
I'm always glad to bump into Matt. I'm even happier when that happens while he is up on a ladder. The enjoyment of ascending a rock wall (real or otherwise) is so dependent on the quality of the climb. Creating these climbs is truly an art form. That's why I'm glad the walls of the New Jersey Rock Gym are Matt's canvases.
