Lemonade Fast-Day Six

Some days you are the bug other days you are the windshield.

Today, AGAIN, I feel like the smashed bug.
This time the windshield appeared in the form of a crashed hard drive on my desktop computer.
You can see the keyboard now resting on its sorry carcass beneath the desk.
I am more upset at myself than I am at the dumb piece of machinery.
Out of habit I always back-up my financial records everyday, which is good.
But my photos have not been backed-up since we moved back ashore, last month.
According to Compaq customer service all of those files are likely gone.
I don't believe them.
Tomorrow, I will try a local computer wizard to see if I can recover the files.
Should I cuss or should I pray?
So far I have done neihter.
I figure the lord is too busy to worry about my lowly digital pictures.
For now Shibumi's laptop is pressed into action, hooked to the desktop monitor.

And the fast?
Well, I have been so busy today, loading programs into the laptop,
that I have not eaten, even though Jill has asked me twice.
So it looks like I'll break the fast tomorrow, on day #7.

P.S. Back-up your pictures today. Do it RIGHT NOW.

Those problems really get under your skin :( Best of luck with the "wizard".

Data recovery is very expensive. Hopefully, it's a software crash that can be fixed. A lot of times that's all it is. Got two external HDDs. :)

I have a dedicated 300 GB external Maxtor drive dedicated to backing up my images. Learned the hard way! Good luck.

Good luck with that, I got my important ones backed up. (Fingers crossed.)

Good luck and thanks for the reminder.

There are now many recovery programs that rival even the FBI. Good lick and enjoy your first day back from fasting. I would already be thinking about my first meal.

I think you need to get yourself a Mac. Sorry about the hardware...

OMG. That's bad news, I'll keep my fingers crossed for a happy outcome. Ugh.

Unfortunately we humans tend to learn the hard way with all things. :>(

Ouch David!
I'll bet that someone can recover them.
I do hope so.
