Nice shot - I think you've controlled the lighting very well. I wouldn't say that darkness is the link (anti-link?), but I do think the light from the flashlight on the side of the candle and table top do serve as a subtle link.
The one thing I might try differently is to have the flashlight higher in the shot so that it is not on the same horizontal plane as the candle. I know that the top of the flash is slightly higher, but the bright flame and bulb are about even.

The link is darkness. I choose to do the strong relationship between two objects, both are used to provide light. The idea just came to me like a light switch being turned on after reading the theme definition. I'm sure it could be done better, but I gave it a try. SCox

i think there needs to be something linking the two lights together. but i like the textured background appearing in the arc of the light. bugzie
