4th February 2006 - angels and demons

Fin and bedtime bunny sleep behind the sofa.

Becks and Iain came to supper tonight, with their little brood all wrapped up and sleeping. Fin and his bedtime bunny slept in their little sleeping bag behind the sofa while Greg and his bedtime bunny slept in his car seat in the other corner.

Fin looks like an angel and I can vouch for this little lad’s general good humour and cute demeanour. Last time I popped into see Becks for a cup of tea, Fin was showing me his toys and chattering away animatedly in Esperanto – well it may as well have been for all the sense he made to a middle aged woman who has had no experience of conversing with a two year old before really. At one point, he decided he wanted to be a part of the conversation with the adults around the table and he grabbed my leg and did this amazing smile that pulled my heart into its tiny vice-like grip. He wanted a lift up so he could join in the conversation and he sat on my knee happily for ten minutes or so.

Today though, he has been a demon….he’s been tormenting Mummy and Daddy all morning. It’s a ‘terrible twos’ thing I suppose – you know I hadn’t really even heard of ‘terrible twos’ until my friend Susie had her babies and then went through it a few times.

Now though, he’s back to being a perfect model son with his cherubic looks and bunny under his arm. Aaahhhhh.

If only he realised that while he was sleeping, there was all of this activity going on – lots of eating and drinking while Mummy and Daddy discussed life, love and the universe, setting the world to right with me and DM. He’d have been so upset to have missed the party.

Oh and by the way – this photo shows the true horror of the floor coverings in the house – yes, this is a cream, flowered carpet and it is covering our sitting room floor!!!

Last year we were entertaining friends too - and I shot this photo of another little boy.
