We stayed a few days on Miya Jima (I think that means Shine Island). Anyway, this is the Torri Gate at the Shrine. When the tide is out you can walk right up to it and it's huge. When the tide is in it looks like it's floating on the water. It's certainly a beautiful place to spend an hour at sunset.

this is a wonderful shot, makes the entire trip worthwhile IMO. :) i especially like the little silhouettes of people below; it gives a sense of the gate's grand scale.
