Japan: Shinkansen

The high speen bullet train or Shinkansen. These really are amazing... at least for those of us from the UK whose trains are rarely on time and can be stopped by 'leaves on the line' or 'the wrong kind of snow' !!!! Nothing seems to stop these trains and they have their own track so there's no need for them to slow down they just plough on at great speed and always to the minute of the timetable.

When trains have their own track, they are more likely to be on time, so wonder how the traditional Japanses trains fare? I think South West Trains do a pretty good job in getting me up to London on their congested tracks.

Wow that is some modern train! I spent almost an hour last night waiting for Laura at Sheffield Station, which is undergoing a massive upgrade and is in a right mess. Due to signal failure trains had to wait to enter the station. Spent most of the time shunting my car around and having arguments with taxi drivers!
