Japan: Fishing

I sat watching these two gentlemen in the grounds of Osaka Castle. They had their cameras (and very long lenses) trained on the pond which contained Koi Carp. I'm not sure what they were waiting for but they were there for a very long time and it struck me that it's like a less distructive way of fishing - you still capture the fish but it doesn't get hurt. What a wonderful way to spend a day...chatting to a friend, eating a packed lunch together and waiting for that fishy moment.

definitely my kind of fishing. you might've joined them. :)

you know, it depends on the camera they were using. given the cloths over the camera, they may well have been using large format cameras... which means super small apertures, e.g. f/64! so they might be doing long exposures. though that probably wouldn't work well for fish... so maybe they were doing landscapes?
