My Nemesis 06_21_05.jpg

I have tried, I don't know how many times, to get a good artistic image of a rooster ring-necked pheasant without much luck. We have them in the yard and pasture; but, they are just so darn spooky. I got this one today and it's alright. The second he saw me and the camera he was off and running. Depth of field is just a little too narrow and his head is just a bit out of focus. Oh well, it is a challenge and one of these days I'll get it all right in a pheasant photo.

I've had exactly this problem, although I havent even got this close to get a usable photo. Its strange, pheasants will wander across the road stupidly in front of you, but the moment they sense you are 'after' them, then whoosh, they've gone!

If you were a hunter, you would never go hungry my friend!
You put yourself in the best position to capture all your wildlife shots.
If you replaced your camera with a gun, food would be in abundance at the Bates' household!
Very well done.

I think you did great Bill, it's the challenge that keeps you trying and makes it interesting right?
