This type of glaze is a soup full of little chips or crystals of various colors. It's
applied with a brush (after stirring well to get the crystals in suspension) and in
the firing, the crystals melt and diffuse to an effect much like wet-in-wet watercolor.
Great fun -- glazing could probably be a lifetime study in itself.
