Love the shot, Barri. They might have been used like ones around lakes here, simply to allow people to back their boats in. But I think the ramps are controlled access here now, and mostly around marinas. Last time I went to our nearest lake to take photographs, I had to trespass to get near. :-)

Around this small town there are about 100 like this...all abandoned and not used for anything. Lake MIchigan is much drier than 10 or more years ago, when the footings of these weren't even visible. I have yet to figure out the history of these, what they were used for...seems they are spaced out fairly evenly, and extend for quite a long way...along the sandy beach.

Can a concrete pier be nice?
