Joop's Dog Log - Friday Mar 19

Maybe I used to live on a ship.
I don't remember anything from my earlier life,
the life before I was brought to the animal shelter where my humans found me.
But sometimes I surprise everybody when I appear to be familiar with something.
It started when I showed my humans I knew how to wait at a curb before crossing a street.
They told each other: Joop must have lived in a city, not on a farm.
Next I showed them I could run with a bicycle.
They told each other: Joop’s old humans must have been riding bicycles a lot,
maybe they didn't even own a car
(it took some time before I could ride in a car without getting all nervous).
When I saw this old river freighter I didn't think twice and jumped right on the gangplank.
I crossed the deck and would have gone into the wheelhouse if my human hadn’t called me back.
Somehow it all seemed so familiar.
So now I wonder: can it be that in my old life I was... Joop the Sailor Dog?

Joop, honey....I envy you your human. What a grand guy he is to go around with, don't you agree?? How nice you have such a beautiful country to walk in.

Good morning Joop. A ship's dog is a fine thing to be, and it's always fine to see you at the start of my day.

Joop, you are an International Dog of Mystery. It's one of the things that makes you so fascinating.

Isn't your countryman the Keeshond a ship dog? Maybe you learned the ropes from one of them.

Moin sailor's dog Joop....you and your secrets......for humans your mysterious past and step by step learning more of you must be super-exciting....for us dogs it is not fair: our bosslady had tried and tried to teach us things when we were puppies......sometimes we do listen to her words...and she very often becomes frustrated " my dogs do not understand me - do I speak Chinese? "

Living with you seems to be different.....your humans do not expect anything and are highly surprised and delighted when you all of a sudden show them what you are able to do......what a great performance........you can make humans wonder......have a nice weekend ...see you ..potens from your partners B&P
