Joop's Dog Log - Saturday Mar 20

Our old queen in The Netherlands is very ill.
She`s not a queen anymore so they call her princess now, princess Juliana.
She`s 94 years old and she has pneumonia. They`re afraid she`s going to die.
Juliana was our queen from 1948 till 1980. She`s the mother of Beatrix, who`s our queen now,
and grandmother of Willem-Alexander, who will be our king soon.
We haven`t seen Juliana in at least five years. They`ve been hiding her in the royal palace
in Soestdijk because -as they say- she has `loss of memory`.
The last time she was on television she said some real funny things
and she gave the camera strange looks... She was always a bit different, even odd.
But the Dutch humans have always liked her.
Her birthday (April 30) is still our `National Queens Day`. She was a good queen.
I`m going to keep my paws crossed for her today.

Update: princess Juliana died in her sleep Saturday morning.

Hi Joop, good to have the flog back, we all seem to be somehow addicted to this meeting point. We thought queen Beatrix to have birthday on 30.4.04, but now we know it is the oldie. Our humans will have a meeting on that day, invited by an old Dutch friend and the invitation letter mentioned this event. Dutch friend Theo seems to be in love with "his old queen" even if he is living here in Germany for decades....our humans shall come there dressed all in ORANGE!!! Humans are so crazy sometimes....as long as sun is shining we shall go out and take some spring photos of the Güsterfields for our friends!

Hi beautiful Joop. I know your nation will be in mourning over your wonderful old queen...what a peaceful way to go: in her sleep. I think I remember her...and I certainly have seen her daughter.
Yes, it is wonderful to have f/l back. And tell Henk not to worry about those archives, they will be back soon, too.

I`m so excited about f/l being back, I forgot to tell you what beautiful, liquid eyes you have, Joop. And that slight tilt of the head...looks like you are actually thinking about your old queen. Well, who knows, maybe you were a dog of royality before you came to live with Henk and the other human...maybe you were Juliana`s dog and she just couldn`t find you after you left the grounds of the castle. Wow...
Tell your human to give you an extra cookie today...is he still trying to feed you those green beans. Haaa haaaa haaaa.

Hi Joop, sorry to hear about Princess Juliana, but it sounds like she lived a very long life, and a peaceful passing... We have a queen too, but she lives in England. I think she`s getting pretty old too, but she`s still the queen. Why did Beatrix become queen before her mother died?

So sorry about the passing of princess Julliana. Queen Beatrix looks like she`s doing a good job. I saw her once when she was touring an art museum in New York.
