This is simply a classical! It was taken in 2004. Could you take such pictures in 2006 too? I have some friends from Shanghai living here in germany. After their annual visit to their hometown they always stated: Everytime, we come home, the cityscape of Shanghai has rapidly changed!

Jen, this works very well. It is not sepia, but not black and white, either. There is a touch of age in the color, but it does not shout age at us. I think the coloration here is a perfect match for the meaning of this image.

Phil, how do you think of this tone? It looks like a picture taken long time ago but it is actually from present time, you find the form bothers you here? In fact this is a very old street in Shanghai and everything around here trying to preserve some old Shanghai tastes. I took out the colors here and wanted to give it a historical feelings as all the buildings, shops around here trying to be.. Jen

Likyin is right - you have composed this image in layers , Jennifer, creating foreground, middleground, and background that a tell a story when put together. It is all about those crowds that Likyin feels lost in --you anchor the picture with that mass of bikes, and place your focus on them to symbolize mass transportation. The people are softer, and only implied. The background softer still, but we can still see the Chinese characters so we know where the picture was taken. Beautiful story telling here.
