The wall in the "Pen Room"

We collect writing instruments an have pictures of pens and ink bottles and pen company memorabilia on our wall in the den. This is a close up of some of these things.

Ann, I missed this one before and noticed it now, as I'm browsing through all the pictures to vote. This is a very nice composition - perfectly proportioned! The one thing I would have liked different is the "picture" (film-can) inside the large frame. That I find a bit distracting. Could be easily fixed in photoshop by filling the entire inside of the given frame with that light yellow or beige color that is already predominantly there. This could then be interpreted as part of a paspartout. --Olaf

Thanks Mark and ISO. The picture is not completely straight I think... hard to tell. I took it as it was on the wall and not all of my pictures are perfectly straight. ;) What attracted me to this was the pointed shadow that aims from one frame to the other and the curve of the Shaeffer's display case logo (the round thing you see). Other things then came to my attention as I took several pictures: the more subtle shadows and the golden cast to the left of the top frame. I might try this in B&W as you suggest Mark. No time now though. :) Ann C

I seem to like the abstracts in this challenge..... There's something about this one, must be the position of the curve, but the top right picture looks as if it's not straight - but it is isn't it? Or isn't it? Weird effect. Good comp, and I keep coming back to it.

I just love your brand of abstract, Ann :-) nice shot, nicely composed. Might be interesting in B & W as well? Mark J
