Vikas, your right, the introduction of cream would upset the balance. I think what you have done in making the frame smaller is correct for this medium. If I were to hang it however, I would go for a slightly off white or textured white boarder that eases the viewer into the picture as the black would overstate the graphic nature of the shot(IMO). Whatever frame you have it's still an excellent image.
Rob, thank you indeed for your wonderful comments and greatly appreciate them. Regarding the border, took your suggestion and tried out different coloured borders but utlimately decided to stick with the black, only because the photograph itself really has only three colours, white, black and red (and shades thereof), so instead of introducing a new colour to the equation, decided to stick with black (it being one of the photo colours). However, to negate the harshness factor, made the border fairly narrow.... please let me know if this is better. Thanks once again. Vikas.

Vikas, could I make a suggestion of the border/frame, why not try a cream wider border it would situate the white and red much better? I think the black is a little harsh.

Vikas, my Misses would love this image on our wall, I've been trying to get a Solid, artistic rose for her for ages, but I have always been playing with DOF, to the effect of making it look like a getwell card. Love the high contrast and deep reds.
